VJ Day today
Twas VJ Day today. For those of you who don't know that's victory over Japan (day). in the Pacific, the war didn't end until August 15th 1945. Europe the end of the came on May the 8th ~3 months earlier. To most, this means very little but for our grandparents, the war came awefully close with German raiders destroying our interisland ferrys (Chch - Chattams (Holmwood)), Japanese flying boats scanning our territorial waters, Japanese submarines in Wellington harbour, infact Japan had alrerady printed the yen with which to pay it's soldiers when they invaded New Zealand. New Zealand would be a very different place if it weren't for the actions of many of our grandparents and I am very thankfull to God for what they did, without there actions, there would be a good chance that many of us would not be arround today.
