Girls
Recently in a discussion with a couple of friends of mine (both girls), the issue of the actions of women in New Zealand was discussed. To my suprise both of them started ripping into Kiwi women about how poorly they behaved, particually in the fields of leadership and domineering masculine woman. Initially I agreed as a generalisation, but after thinking about the women closest to me (mostly women I've met in the last 2-3 years), I realised that this group was very different to the "target" group of women. After reflecting on it, I realised that the group of girls I hung arround with were very different and I recognised some of the characteristics that made them so. These were:
Compassion - Compassion that I've felt hasn't been held back in anyway. This is a good idea, it sorta recognises that some guys actually have feelings and then provides a safe environment in which guys can then share them.
Kindness - Actual kindness with no expectations of what can be gotten out of it. Its just nice.
Speaking their mind - I like this idea! No longer does language have to be encrypted with multiple subtleties of which man kind has never been given the code. No more "You should know my needs before I anticipate them" (and yes I have had that). Just true and clear communication (with tact). This also means that frustrations and the sort don't get bottled up until boiling point (usually tact goes out the door at this point).
Submissiveness - Oh boy, you were waiting for this one right! But no, I don't mean easily dominated, I mean submissive in the true sence of the word. I've found that many of the girls I'm talking about are a lot more willing to give other peoples things/ideas a go. This is in turn almost universally recipricated by others. It also makes a nice change from the subtle mentalities that many have of angry feminism and male dominance.
Humility - I've found it that one of the best ways to humble me is to treat me with humility. Very cool in any relationship for both parties concerned. Also very reciprocal.
I've found it really good to see beauty in these non-worldly ways, it's opened my eyes to aspects that are rarely seen these days. Thanks to all of you, you know who you are.

nice post, J...
Yay for all the cool girls around at the moment =)
you've really gotten into this blogging thing with fervour, haven't you!!
Nice one Michelle - "yay for all the cool girls around at the moment" - subtle, yet so clearly your kind of thing :D
Interestingly enough, the way you've defined them, those are all values I'd like to possess myself (in moderation of course).
Nato - does that make you a girl? Or just a wannabe? Oh how the tables have turned *massive grin*
Christina, Christina, Christina... always assume the worse!!
I was agreeing with Mr Woody that there are nice girls around, not insinuating that I am one of those, but that i know others =P
Ah yes, I also know nice girls. Alas, judging by the categories in this post, I am not one of them :P
:)
Yo, must be about time for another post there James... otherwise people might start thinking you're one of those brief honeymoon-period bloggers :P
Was starting to wonder that myself. I think most of my "issues" lately have largely been non-events and also prolly a little personal. J
he he he ... we know what's consuming your time ;P Sorry, perhaps was a little blunt. But you are looking a bit like a fair-weather blogger. You don't have to post about personal stuff. Most of us post about silly random stuff as well (sometimes). Heh... man this sounds bad... no pressure eh, hope stuff's going OK for ya :)
